CRITICAL EQUIPMENT TACTIC REVIEWS
Xenco provided support on our client’s critical asset strategy and reliability program, including developing and optimising equipment tactics and preparing them for implementation to minimise downtime.
CLIENT
Asset strategies (corporate), Tier 1 multinational mining company.
ISSUES
Quality issues were identified with existing asset FMECA reviews and asset tactics:
- Inconsistencies were identified with the identification of maintainable items across the assets.
- Function and functional failure identification of the maintainable items identified was inconsistent.
- Completeness and consistency where tactics were applied varied.
OUR APPROACH
Our Reliability and Equipment Specialists carried out a major Tactics Review program, including:
- Quality reviewed FMECA models for high-priority HME and fixed plant equipment across multiple sites.
- Developed “Best Model” tactics for a central library.
- Aligned tactics with corporate guidelines (condition monitoring).
- Provided resources with hands-on equipment reliability experience and systems experts.
THE RESULT
- Comprehensive tactics were developed for the critical assets in a format to suit the client’s requirements.
- Work packaging reviews were conducted to categorise reliability tasks into logical groupings to cater for efficient scheduling and execution. This ensured the downtime requirement from the tactic review was minimised.
