CLIENT

Queensland Open Cut Mine

OBJECTIVE

Xenco was engaged by an operation under administration to conduct a comprehensive technical and operational review of its restart plan. Working alongside the administrators, our objective was to support the mine’s sale process while ensuring a successful restart and seamless ongoing operations.

THE CHALLENGES

The operation was under administration and placed on care and maintenance, presenting several complex challenges, including:

  • Developing a complete restart plan.
  • Commencing with unknown condition of plant and equipment.
  • Recruitment of an operating workforce both for the mine, processing plant, train load out and maintenance.
  • Develop a logistics solution and tender for transporting the coal to the train load-out.
  • Commissioning of processing operation.
  • Environmental compliance requirements including, closure provisions, and environmental monitoring.
APPROACH

Xenco assembled a team to conduct a strategic review to ensure the right plan was in place for an efficient restart of operations. We then leveraged Core Crew’s expertise to manage day-to-day operations while Xenco provided key resources and skills to enhance collaboration outcomes. To drive efficiency, a Project Management Office (PMO) was established to oversee all aspects of the operation.

OUR RESULTS
